The Irish group U2 has decided to delay the publication of his next album, which was scheduled for this autumn, until early 2009, while the band continues writing and recording new material, reported the band in its official Internet page.

“I thought we were going to have the album ready now, but why publish it now if there is still invaluable material to be discovered?” Writes Bono, the leader of the group, U2.com.

So far, the Irish quartet has been recorded in southern France, Fez (Morocco) and Dublin (Ireland) with his usual collaborators Brian Eno, Daniel Lanois and Steve Lillywhite.

“We know that we must emerge soon, but we also know that people do not want another disc of U2 unless our best work to date,” Bono added. “There must be more innovative, more challenging.”

Bono also says that the group now has 50 or 60 songs that include believed to be in the continuation of How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, his latest work, 2004.

“Right now we seek a transition similar to what happened between The Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby,” Bono added. “We wish that 2009 is our year.”

Ricky Martin announced that he will retire from the music some time to take charge of their twins.

According to the official website of the singer, the retirement of the reflectors will be temporary because next year expects to resume his career when the twins are larger and can accompany his famous father in the world.

The new album will be on sale in music stores on November 14. There’s already circulating on the web the name of some of the songs: “Moment of Surrender,” “For Your Love,” “Love Is All We Have Left”, “One Bird”, “If I Could Live My Life Again,” “The Cedars of Lebanon” and “No Line On The Horizon.”

This is the first original work since the band released the smash-hit How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb in November 2004. This album sold an incredible 10 million copies and picked up eight Grammy Awards.

U2 is also planning a huge worldwide tour, and it’s expected that they announce details of the tour after they release the album, so let’s save the date because you know that each U2 concert it’s a whole new experience!

* When viewed in the aggreggate (ie. the entire Canadian population), there is no direct relationship between P2P file sharing and CD purchases in Canada. According to the study authors, “the analysis of the entire Canadian population does not uncover either a positive or negative relationship between the number of files downloaded from P2P networks and CDs purchased. That is, we find no direct evidence to suggest that the net effect of P2P file sharing on CD purchasing is either positive or negative for Canada as a whole.
